Garage Door Safety Sensor Repair
Photo-eye sensors stop the door from closing on a person, pet or vehicle. When they misread, the door refuses to close or reverses without reason.
Safety sensors mount near the floor on both sides of the opening and project an invisible beam across it. If the beam is broken while the door is closing, the opener reverses. It is one of the most important safety features on a modern door.
Sensor faults are common because the units sit low, get bumped by vehicles and equipment, collect dust and cobwebs, and are exposed to sunlight and moisture. Wiring runs along the wall where it can be pinched, stapled through or damaged.
Sensor service includes checking indicator lights, verifying alignment and mounting, inspecting wiring end to end, cleaning or replacing lenses, and re-testing the reversal function with an object in the door path.
